The Smith & Wesson Model 53, introduced in late 1961, was specifically designed to chamber the 22 Remington Jet, a high-velocity centerfire cartridge developed jointly by Remington and Smith & Wesson. This cartridge was based on a .357 Magnum case necked down to .22 caliber, designed for flat trajectory and enhanced accuracy at distances up to 100 yards. The Model 53 was notable for being the sole revolver chambered for this round, and demonstrating unique features adapted for its high-performance round, including solutions to prevent cylinder gap and case setback issues. Ammo available with purchase.
